SUMMARY:Spotlight on the Peninsula - NASA Langley Research Center
DESCRIPTION:APRIL 13TH DISCUSSION POINTS:\n\n-Engineers and researchers at NASA's Langley Research Center in Hampton\, Virginia have had key roles in the Perseverance mission and every Mars mission since the 1970s.\n\n-The center's flight mechanics simulation team ran approximately 10 million performance simulations and supported the landing.\n\n-Researchers led development of the aerodynamics and aeroheating databases for the mission and characterization of the parachute system.\n\n-The Mars EDL Instrumentation 2 (MEDLI2) project is led by Langley in partnership with NASA's Ames Research Center in Mountain View\, California. There\, researchers developed an instrumentation system including sensors\, harnessing and electronics that are installed on the aeroshell of the entry vehicle and made critical measurements during the spacecraft's entry into the Martian atmosphere.\n\n \nABOUT SPOTLIGHT ON THE PENINSULA:\n\nThe Spotlight on the Peninsula series is designed to highlight the critical components of the economic growth engine on the Peninsula\, and to bring community leaders together to listen\, learn and engage.
