DESCRIPTION:Disability Awareness Day (D.A.D.) was established in October of 1990 out of a need to highlight the capabilities of persons with disabilities. Disability Awareness Day will be on Saturday\, October 19\, 2013 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Patrick Henry Mall in Newport News. The City of Newport News? Parks\, Recreation & Tourism Department has been serving citizens with disabilities since 1973 and has made a commitment to further the public awareness of their talents\, services in the community and concerns. Patrick Henry Mall has been a staunch supporter and co-sponsor from the very beginning. Countless individuals and agencies have volunteered their time over the years to make this event an annual reality.
